Three Reasons Why You Don’t Love Your Wardrobe!

1. You haven’t defined your personal style. Personal style is simply an expression of who you are, how you put outfits together and how you accessorize those looks. This is not about following the latest trends because trends come and go. Personal style is about staying true to who you are. Some of you may say, I really don’t know what my style is…No Problem…there are a few ways to solve this problem.

  • Look for inspiration photos that line up with your lifestyle.

  • Create mood boards

  • Play around with clothing. Be adventurous, don’t be afraid to take risks. Eliminate what you don’t like, keep what you love, and build from there.

  • Hire a professional. Sometimes you just don’t have the time or patience and you need someone to assist or help you with building your wardrobe….and that’s ok. A personal stylist or wardrobe consultant, as I am both, *wink* can help with that!

2. You don’t understand your body type. Listen ladies, all silhouettes are not created equal. As women we come in all different BEAUTIFUL shapes and sizes!!! With that being said, we have to know what works well for “OUR” specific body types. You can buy all the beautiful clothing in the world, but if you don’t understand how to create shapes that are flattering to your body type, you will more than likely stay in a rut of not truly loving what you purchase. Remember, you not only want to love what you purchase, you also want those things to look good on your body. The goal is NEVER a mediocre wardrobe, but rather one that you LOVE and feet GREAT in.

3. You don’t own enough Staple Pieces. Staple pieces are classic pieces or timeless pieces…meaning they NEVER go out of style. These pieces transcend trends; however, if there is a “new trend” you love, staple pieces help assist with bringing your unique and personal spin on a new trend to life. Some staple pieces are:

- button down shirts

- black dress

- slacks (black and gray)

- dark denim jeans

- basic pumps (nude & black)

- bomber jacket

- loafers

- everyday sunglasses

- sweaters (neutrals)

- basic tees

I hope this will assist with the starting point of you building a wardrobe you absolutely love.
